"Amazing! I laughed, I cried, I laughed again. And now I want to learn how to surf." - Kamila

"Oh, we have sharks here, but they are not in the water."

-Udi, Israeli surf teacher

Heather is allergic to politics, religion and exercise. So what happens when she and her husband Zach leave Ohio for Tel Aviv? Obviously, she takes up surfing. Abandoned by a newly God-obsessed Zach,

Heather must navigate a land teeming with hipsters, zealots, hostile neighbours and one very sexy surf teacher. Zach finds the Wailing Wall and Heather finds a wall of water but will they lose each other? Paddle along on the journey of a pushover who learns to stand up for herself by learning how to stand on a surfboard.

Told as a series of surf lessons, it combines quirky storytelling, sharp observational comedy and some plucky tunes on the ukulele as Erin shifts between 10 different characters at breakneck pace and surfs on moving boxes. This fish out of water tale explores the immigrant experience, female empowerment and finding your inner chutzpah.

The show is 100% fiction* and not at all based on Erin’s experiences living in the Israeli balagan*. 95% fiction...At least 90%. Okay, 70. 70% fiction.

Directed by Adam Lenson who specialises in new and experimental musical theatre with credits from The Old Vic, Public Theatre (New York), Duke of York’s and St James Theatre.

Supported by JW3.
