welcome! And congratulations for steering clear of the Erin Hunter Warrior Cat fan sites!
An actor who was born in sunny Los Angeles, and chose - of her own free will - to leave Hollywood for London's grey skies, Erin is a rare creature (like the pink fairy armadillo!) She trained at UCLA and LAMDA and spent a study year abroad at Trinity College Dublin where she was devastated to discover her Irish name is only found on packets of instant soup.
This year, Erin set herself the challenge of penning a new comedy ukulele song every month. Her first tune, ‘Why Dry January?’ landed her an interview on BBC Radio London. From February’s ditty, ‘Poshos on the Piste’ to July’s ‘I Hate Ze Tour de France’, they can all be found on youtube and across her social media channels.
Erin toured widely with her critically acclaimed solo show, Surfing the Holyland, which was nominated for the BBC/Popcorn New Writing Award at Edinburgh Fringe and an Offie at Brighton Fringe. All about female empowerment through surfing, the show features 12 comedy comedy characters, 4 ukulele anthems and a whooole lot of chutzpah! It garnered multiple four and five star reviews: ‘oodles of charm…offering a balanced perspective on the Middle East’ (The Guardian); ‘a must-see show…profoundly joyous and joyously profound’ (Fringe Review) and ‘Hunter has delivered something special, rare and worth watching...a tour de force’ (Plays to See).
Erin has trotted the globe performing in over 50 plays in London, Dublin, New York and Los Angeles. In London, she's performed at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Soho Theatre, Bush Theatre, Southwark Playhouse and Arcola among others. She was nominated for a Best Actress award for her role as Kate in web series A Quick Fortune at the Bilbao Festival. Erin has also performed in two runs of the world’s longest running sketch comedy show, Newsrevue. With a focus on British news, it’s no surprise that Erin is one of the only Americans cast. Ever. But please don’t ask her to do Glaswegian because it won’t be pretty.
Erin is ½ of Hunt the Vigan, 'the world’s funniest comedy duo' (according to their mothers.) Creators of viral comedy parenting video Boobies in a Box, it has amassed a whopping 8 million views and been featured in global press including The Huffington Post who called it 'hilarious'. The pair originally united to create a retro screwball comedy web series, A Quick Fortune, which was selected for 10 global festivals including Raindance. It won a screenwriting award at the DC Web Fest and was nominated for multiple awards.
Other credits include comedy foil Stephano in an adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Tempest with renowned theatre-makers Teatro Vivo; Annie Londonderry in Miles Apart Together with Papersmokers Theatre; and the UK premiere of dark American play Companion Piece with Concorde Theatre. She’s worked with acclaimed physical theatre ensemble Tangled Feet, Dash Arts and Firehouse Productions.
Erin is also a busy voice over artist who's worked on everything from high profile TV and radio commercials to video games, audiobooks, animation and regular TV promos. Erin has extensive dance training including eleven years of ballet (think Black Swan minus the schizophrenia and death) plus a sprinkling of other styles including African, swing, contemporary, jazz and capoiera.
Look at you! Makin' it to the bitter end. Time for a well deserved glass of vino, even if it is 8am (it's happy hour somewhere)!
